Great question! The contest rules say they’re only granting us permission to use their work; they remain the copyright owner. I hope this clears it up!

So what does “you grant River Market and Tenth to the Fraser to print and electronic rights to your work” mean ?
Am I giving up my copyright if I enter the contest, or just granting a license ?
