Best Bets for Japanese and Sushi

Ordered takeout the other night and thought to myself, SUSHI!!!…thatโ€™s what I should write about next! It is one of my favourite foods and luckily my husband now enjoys a few Japanese dishes, so I get to order it more often. ๐Ÿ™‚

With so many options for Japanese food in New West I wanted to share some of the places Iโ€™ve had the pleasure of dining at. The only thing I regret about ordering takeout from Japanese is the Styrofoam platingโ€ฆconvenient yes, attractive no.

Ki Sushi

Conveniently located across the street from Old Spaghetti Factory on 8th Street, and always busy (which I take as a good sign) and I find the quality of food outstanding. My only wish was for more free parking, but I feel like that could be said for many establishments in the City. They also have tatami rooms which I love. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Dojo Sushi

Iโ€™ve been here a handful of times and each time had super friendly and quick service. Their bento boxes have a great assortment of items and they have unique rolls which is always a treat to try. A perfect stop for a post Walmart run at Royal City Centreโ€ฆshopping and sushi go hand-in-hand.

Hayashi Sushi

Hayashi is my no. 1 go to for Japanese food in New West. Close to my house, located at Columbia Square Plaza (free parking!) and an extensive menu with great selection and super quick turn around on take-out orders and the prawns for their prawn tempura are massive in comparison to other restaurants.

Togo Sushi

Togo is my number 2 spot in New West; itโ€™s my quick stop once I get off the skytrain at New Westminster station. The menu is limited but they have the basics. Since theyโ€™re geared a bit more towards takeout, I wouldnโ€™t recommend coming here with a large group for a sit down meal since the seating area is a bit small. The staff are always super friendly and you get free tea to sip on while you wait.

With this glorious weather creeping upon us, Iโ€™m hoping my food explorations land me at several patios/pubs over the coming weeks/months. My ask is this, where would one find the best nachos in town and why? Of course smoking deals on drink specials are always an added bonus, so please New Westers, spill the beans so I can continue my mission.
