2011 Election Events in New West

Here’s a list of events we’ve been told about happening in New West that pertain to the 2011 Civic Election. Please submit your event by emailing jen at tenth to the fraser <dot> ca or leave me a comment. Check back for more events as I am able to find them all. 

Debates and Candidate Meet and Greets:

  • October 18th, 7PM:  All Candidates Meeting, hosted by the Queensborough Residents Association at the Queensborough Community Centre – Briana attended and blogged about this event
  • October 27th, 7PM: All Candidates Meeting for School Trustees, hosted by New Westminster Teachers Union at New Westminster Senior Secondary
  • November 2nd, 5:30pm-7:30pm: Fun & Politics, hosted by NEXT New West, New Westminster Environmental Partners and Tenth to the Fraser at the newly renovated and now open Lafflines. Promoted as a “non-traditional, informal all-candidates’ mixer aimed at encouraging younger voters to become more engaged in city politics”, the event is free and is for people aged 19 and older. Beer and wine is available for purchase. A stand up comic will start at 6pm, and candidate introductions will begin after.
  • November 6th, 3:00pm (Please note time change): All Candidates Meeting for Mayor and Council, hosted by the Queens Park Residents Association, at Centennial Lodge in Queens Park. Open to all residents of New Westminster. Here is their Facebook page for more info.
  • November 10th, 7pm: All Candidates Meeting for Mayor and Trustee candidates, hosted by New Westminster DPAC, and New Westminster Senior Secondary library
Candidate Fundraisers and Events:
  • Vance McFadyen Fundraiser at the Coming Home Cafe, Tuesday, November 8,2011. Meet and Greet/ Fundraiser. Cash donations received, one name will be drawn and 1/3 of the funds will go to that person’s charity of choice. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP Vance McFadyen Phone:604-522-1600 6:30pm to 8:30 pm
