Glenbrook Ravine Clean-up: Fifth edition

Attention New West Glenbrook Ravine restorers!

Fall has arrived, my favourite season. Leaves changing, warm days and cool nights, and best of all, a great time to remove invasive species!

On Saturday, September 29th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, we will be having our fifth day in the ravine of the year. Depending on your perspective, we’ve had some good weather or bad weather in the form of rain for most of our events this year. This often keeps the number of people down, but we work rain or shine, and those who have shown up on wet days have really enjoyed themselves. (The rain helps keep you cool!)

This will be the last invasive species removal of the year, as we will be preparing the site for our native species planting event in October. We have ordered a lot of plants, so the more people out to prepare the site, the better!

As always, this is a family friendly event, and we have ways for people of all ages and abilities to get involved and contribute. The work is not that hard, and refreshment, socialization breaks are welcome and encouraged. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Please share this with anyone who you think might be interested. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday the 29th!

  • Free parking is available at the Glenbrook Park Amenities Centre (76 Jamieson Ct.); we will not be meeting here, but rather, we will meet at the site. For any first timers, just walk down the path from any entrance into the Glenbrook Ravine, and you will find us.
  • Anyone can join for as long or as little as they like, anytime during the 10:00 am to 1:00 pm window. If you arrive after 10:00 am, you can simply follow the trail up the ravine until you find everyone.
